BlackSoil Capital provides financing to green startups and small businesses across India, helping them access the capital needed to grow and scale. The company specialises in alternative financing for businesses that often struggle to obtain loans from traditional banks, particularly in one of the world’s most important growth markets.

India’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are a key driver of economic growth, accounting for around 30 per cent of GDP and employing a large share of the workforce. Despite their importance, many businesses face significant barriers to accessing finance, limiting their ability to invest, expand operations and create jobs.

Through its financing activities, BlackSoil supports companies working in areas such as renewable energy, electric mobility, crop insurance and climate-resilient agriculture. At least 75 per cent of the investment is directed towards climate-related businesses, helping accelerate the adoption of green technologies and solutions that contribute to climate mitigation and adaptation.

In addition to supporting the green transition, the investment promotes more inclusive economic development. By expanding access to finance for underserved entrepreneurs, including women-led businesses, BlackSoil helps create opportunities for growth, job creation and innovation across India.
