Crown Healthcare is expanding local pharmaceutical production in Kenya to improve access to affordable, high-quality medicines across East Africa. Impact Fund Denmark is investing USD 10 million (approximately DKK 65 million) in the company to support the construction of a new pharmaceutical factory in Kenya. The factory will strengthen local production capacity and make essential medicines more accessible in Kenya and the wider region.

Like many African countries, Kenya relies heavily on imported medicines. This dependence increases vulnerability to global supply chain disruptions, rising logistics costs and counterfeit medicines. By establishing local large-scale production, Crown Healthcare will help strengthen regional health security and create a more resilient supply of quality medicines.

Beyond improving access to healthcare, the investment is expected to create around 600 permanent jobs in Kenya.

Crown Healthcare has operated across the medical supply chain since 1998 and today distributes medicines and medical equipment throughout the region. The new factory marks an important step towards building a stronger local healthcare industry while ensuring that more people gain access to essential, high-quality medicines at affordable prices.
