ANDREAS BROGAARD BUHL GLOBAL COMPACT BOARD MEMBER

At the first general meeting of the Global Compact Network in Denmark, Andreas Brogaard Buhl was elected member of the board.

At the first general meeting of the Global Compact Network in Denmark, which was held on 24 October, IFU’s Head of Sustainability and Corporate Governance, Andreas Brogaard Buhl, was elected member of the board.

As a board member, Andreas Brogaard Buhl, among other things, wishes to contribute to organising meetings and events to help companies to work actively with sustainability – in praxis, not only in theory.

Other board members are: Thomas Bustrup, DI, Claus Stig Petersen, NovoZymes, Neel Strøbæk, Rambøll, Flemming Lynge Nielsen, Danfoss, Anna Marie Meisling, Chr.Hansen, Emilie Juel-Helwig, Pension Danmark, Rasmus Skov, Ørsted (Dong Energy).

IFU has been a member of the UN Global Compact since 2008.

The GC Network in Denmark will work on promoting the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact, which include:

Human rights:

  1. Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
  2. Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses

Labour:

  1. Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
  2. Elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
  3. Effective abolition of child labour; and
  4. Elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment:

  1. Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
  2. Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
  3. Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-corruption

  1. Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
